If you like the combination of apples, cinnamon and walnuts, this is for you.
Apple Cinnamon Bars
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon powder
½ tsp nutmeg grated
½ ts salt
½ cup butter or 6 tbsp oil
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 apple diced into ¼ “ (skin removed)
¾ cup walnuts chopped
1 tbsp raisins or dried cranberries for garnish
Whisk flour, baking powder, cinnamon powder, nutmeg powder and salt in a bowl.
In a large bowl, beat together sugar, eggs, butter or oil and vanilla until smooth. Slowly add flour until just incorporated. Stir in apples and nuts.
Spread on a big square greased pan into 1 -1 ½ “thickness. Sprinkle dried cranberries on top.
Bake in a preheated oven at 150 degree Celsius for 20-25 mins or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
Cool completely before cutting into bars.
