Chickpea Patties

Chana Tikka / Chickpea Patties

3 cups cooked chickpeas
3 tbsp oats
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp sage
1 tsp oregano
Handful of coriander leaves
A small boiled potato or 1 egg

3 tbsp flour
Enough water to make thick batter
½ cup breadcrumbs

Place all ingredients in a food processor bowl and pulse till all ingredients are minced. (along with potato OR egg)
Take a handful of mixture and form balls and make a flat patty. Alternatively use a ring to get consistent shape. The mixture will be little sticky and soft to handle.

Sprinkle some bread crumbs or oil the plate in which you keep the patties.
Dissolve flour in enough water to make a thick batter. Rub little if this batter on both sides of the patty and coat with breadcrumbs.
Shallow fry in 3-4 tbsp of oil.

Serve with tamarind chutney or tomato ketchup.
This makes a tasty vegetarian burger too.
