Banana Chocolate Marble Cake

Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 ½ cups sugar
1 cup mashed bananas (3 nos)
3 eggs (room temperature)
2 tsp vanilla essence
½ cup softened butter
1 cup yogurt (or use sour cream)
¼ tsp cocoa pwd

Method:
Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt and keep aside.
Sift cocoa powder and keep aside.
Cream butter and sugar in a large bowl.
Add eggs one at a time and mix well.
Add bananas and vanilla essence and mix.
Add half of flour mixture and stir to combine.
Add yogurt and mix.
Now add the rest of the flour and mix to combine.
Remove approx. 1 cup batter to a small bowl and mix in cocoa powder.
Pour half of plain batter to a greased pan. Pour the cocoa batter on top or drop dollops using a spoon.
Cover with plain batter and run a skewer in zig zag pattern.
Bake in a preheated oven at 160 degree Celsius for 35-40 mins or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
Cool the cake in the pan for 10 mins and then invert to a wire rack to cool completely.
Slice and serve.

Peanut Butter & Chocolate Marble Loaf

Ingredients:
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
1 ½ cups sugar
½ cup butter (or olive oil)
½ cup peanut butter
2 tsp vanilla essence
2 eggs
1 ½ cups milk
3tbsp coco powder

Icing
½ cup icing sugar
1 tbsp water

Method:
Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a bowl.
In a larger bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time and add peanut butter and beat well.
(If you are using oil, beat oil, sugar and peanut butter until well mixed and then add eggs one at a time)
Add flour and mix.
Stir in milk and mix well.
Add cocoa powder in another bowl and add 3 tbsp warm water and make a paste.
Transfer half of the cake batter to this and mix well.
Take a parchment lined loaf tin. Spread a thin layer of chocolate batter.
Carefully spread plain batter on top.
Repeat layers till both batter is used up.
Bake in a preheated oven at 150 degree Celsius for approx. 40-45 mins or until a skewer inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
Cool cake in the pan for 10 mins and transfer to a rack to cool.
Mix icing sugar with water and brush all over the warm cake.
Let cool completely.
Slice and serve.

Notes:
Using butter will result in prominent marble design.
Oil is more healthy, but the design will get mixed up as the batter will be little runny.

Marble cakes are a visual treat. You can never recreate the same design twice. Every design is unique and beautiful. This is similar to the Eggless Chocolate cake posted earlier.

Ingredients:
Chocolate batter:
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
¼ cup chocolate powder
1 cup sugar
1 tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
1 cup hot water
1 tbsp vinegar
6 tbsp oil
2 tsp vanilla essence

Vanilla batter:
1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
1 cup hot water
1 tbsp vinegar
6 tbsp oil
2 tsp vanilla essence

Marble Cake 1

Method:
Follow the same method for chocolate and vanilla batter.
In a large bowl, add all dry ingredients.
In another bowl, mix all wet.
Add wet to dry and mix well.
Grease and line a baking round pan or loaf pan or bundt pan and line with butter paper.
Pour layers of vanilla batter and chocolate batter alternately. Take a wooden skewer or oiled knife and make zigzag motion in the batter. Don’t over mix.
Bake in a preheated oven at 150 degree Celsius for 30-40 mins or until a skewer comes clean when poked in the center of the cake.
Cool on a wire rack.
Sprinkle icing sugar on top or frost the cake
