Belgian Style Yeast Waffles…Perfect!!
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ cups milk
5 tbsp olive oil or 6 tbsp melted butter
1 ½ tsp yeast (instant or dry)
¾ tsp salt
2 tbsp maple syrup or honey (optional)
1 tsp vanilla essence
If you are using dry yeast, warm ¼ cup water and add 1 tsp sugar and yeast.
When the yeast rises, mix all ingredients in a bowl and let it rest at room temperature for 1 hr. (reduce ¼ cup milk in this case)
If you are using active yeast, mix all ingredients and leave for 1 hr till bubbly.
You can cook the waffles at this time or refrigerate for the next day.
Brush little olive oil on the waffle iron before you make each batch.
Serve warm with drizzle of maple syrup or honey.
